In class today, we reviewed adding and subtracting positive and negative fractions using a domino game. We then started on multiplying and dividing positive and negative problems. HW is the LAST 3 PROBLEMS of the worksheet below.
Multiplying and Dividing Positive and Negative Fractions
Students learned how to convert decimals to fractions Review of all operations involving positive and negative fractions HW: Take Home Quiz DUE FRIDAY (Students may use their notes and other resources as long as they show their work)
Decimals to Fractions
HW: Take Home Quiz due FRIDAY (students may use their notes and other resources as long as they show their work) Test Corrections due MONDAY All Operations with Decimals HW: Test Corrections Due Monday Take Home Quiz due Friday (Students may use their notes and other resources as long as they show their work) Review on All Operations with Decimals (including positive and negative decimals)
HW: Test Corrections Due Monday
-Students were given back their Take Home Quiz and Test Corrections (if turned in). If these have not yet been turned in, they need to be ASAP.
-Some students had REDO written on their quiz rather than a grade. This means they can completely re-work the problem(s) circled and receive full credit for their work. Other corrections for minor mistakes may be made too for half credit. -There is a WORKING LUNCH on TUESDAY. Students may come for:
Study for tomorrow's test!! Use the review sheet given out in class yesterday (attached to the right under Monday)
Unit 2 test was taken today. No homework other than turning in late assignments and corrections. Make sure to check Power School to find out which assignments you are still missing. Come to me with a list and I can provide you with the assignments. Introduction to Algebraic Expressions
HW: Simplifying Expressions Continuation of Simplifying Expressions and beginning of writing expressions from a word sentence No Homework! LABOR DAY- No School
Distributive Property HW- WS pages 15-16 On page 15: #3-12 (Left column) On page 16: #13-17 (Left column) Click here for a copy of the HW **there is a working lunch tomorrow, Wed (9/3) for anyone that needs help with TEST 1 CORRECTIONS
Test 2 was handed back and reviewed with students during class. Commonly missed problems were reviewed as a class, and then students were grouped based on the types of problems they missed to work together to continue corrections for the rest of class. Students had the entire period to work on corrections and ask questions.
HW is to continue Test 2 Corrections, which are due MONDAY Review of Distributive Property and its applications Distributive Property and Area Half day- students were given interims and time to ask questions about corrections and missing assignments. TEST 2 CORRECTIONS DUE MONDAY Factoring and Percent Conversions
HW: Fraction, Decimal, and Percent Conversions WS Create your own booklet- Students created their own booklet or presentation in class to help them master the processes for converting between fractions, decimals, and percents HW Work on Booklet Quiz- no HW
Students were grouped based on quiz scores while others finished and made corrections. When finished, students worked on their booklets
HW: Combining Like Terms, Distributive Property, and Factoring Page 1 #1-10 Page 2 #13-15
Decimal Fluency- students worked on their ability to add and subtract percents (converted to decimals) to learn Percent Increase and Percent Decrease
HW- Check PowerSchool for missing assignments Students reflected on their goals for themselves and for me (how I can help them be more successful)
Students then continued to work on problems to master Decimal Fluency (See Friday's notes for the rest of the problems covered in class) We then began an introduction to equations, specifically the terminology, goal, and solving one-step equations We began an introduction to equations, specifically the terminology, goal, and solving one and two step equations. Students then worked on practice problems online (one or two step) depending on their comfort with solving equations
HW: Solving 1 and 2 Step Equations Students continued to learn about equations, specifically with two-step equations that involve fractions. Students used Edmodo to watch interactive videos, do practice problems, and complete a review to assess their understanding of the material.
HW: Two-step equations with fractions Students continued to work on two step equations. Some review was done at the beginning of class based on the students' performance on the Edmodo quiz. After completing practice problems and watching videos, they completed another mini review quiz to assess their understanding. Equations Review Game
Students worked in teams to answer a series of one and two step equations No HW Students learned how to solve equations that have fractions for a coefficient and began to write equations for a given word problem by identifying key information, defining a variable, and checking and solving.
No HW Students used Edmodo to watch videos, complete practice problems, and take a mini review quiz to assess their understanding of the material.
Writing 2 Step Equations from word problems
